About Troy Barnett
Certified Public Accountant Troy Barnett earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Southern California (USC) in 1994. Mr. Barnett excelled at USC, where he maintained a 3.5 grade point average and earned a position on the dean’s list over four semesters. In addition, he joined a select number of his peers as a member of the Golden Key and Blue Key National Honor Societies.
Throughout his undergraduate career, Troy Barnett has pursued professional opportunities to complement his classroom education. A lifelong sports fan, he served as a bat boy with the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1989 through 1991. Also in 1991, Troy Barnett took on a winter internship with Shearson Lehman Brothers, where he worked with brokers to manage code calling and engaged in research related to prospective companies. In January 1992, he secured an internship at the United States Federal Courthouse, where he assisted in case research and attended court sessions. He gained additional experience in the legal and regulatory fields with internships at O’Melveny & Myers LLP and in the Washington, D.C., office of Congressman Chris Cox. In the summer of 1994, Troy Barnett accepted a summer internship with Deloitte & Touche LLP.
Following his graduation from USC, Barnett returned to Deloitte in January 1995, starting in the audit department and then transitioning into the tax department full time by that summer. During this time, he also earned his Master in Business Taxation from USC.
In 2004, Troy Barnett started Barnett & Company, Inc., Certified Public Accountants. The firm’s services span specialized accounting procedures such as financial statement preparation (audits, reviews and compilations), computerized payroll, bookkeeping, and tax services for corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies (LLCs), limited liability partnerships (LLPs), trusts, nonprofit organizations, and individuals.
